Meme - finally

6 08 2007

I was tagged a while ago to do the 8-thing-about-me Meme, but just didn’t have the headspace to do it. I think I found some tucked away in the corners of my brain, so here it is:

1. I drink my coffee so slow it gets cold before I can finish my cup.

2. I’ve recently started reading magazines backwards just to mix it up a little.

3. I used to be a big planner (being a very anal person) but now prefer open, wide spaces of time to schedules. I thank E.’s influence for much of this shift.

4. For a while I’ve wanted to learn how to play the piano, guitar and hand drums. Perhaps the piano in our living room with help me realize one of these dreams.

5. I’ve never met my biological father.  I know his name and address, and even though I’ve thought about it many times, I’ve never decided to contact him.  I’m fully aware of the coincidence of how my child is going to grow up in relation to his/her donor (we chose identity release), and I’m sure a full and complete essay could be written on the topic.

6. I don’t shave my legs or armpits. You could chalk this up to the stereotypical “dykey” thing to do, but at some point I realized there was no one making me endure the upkeep and irritation that goes along with shaving and I just stopped (granted, this realization might have occurred around the same time I was exploring other parts of my inner-dyke, but I still hold firm to the other reasons as well…).

7. I’ve ALWAYS slept with a fan on. I love white noise. Thank god E. knew this was not a battle worth fighting when we first moved in together. :-)

8. I was a cheerleader. Big time. This usually surprises people who know me, since I probably haven’t put on a skirt since high school and it’s not a very feminist kind of activity. But cheering ROCKS. We competed - and went to the state finals. We might have done well if my friend hadn’t puked on the floor right before our routine because of nerves. Twice.

If you are reading this and feel inspired to write 8 things about yourself that we don’t know, consider yourself tagged.
