Tagged from E, here is my list of things to get done this week (I did 7, not 5, because I can’t stand lists that aren’t complete…)

1. Start applying to substitute teach in towns on the Cape (to be ready to start when we move)

2. Get a haircut (excruciatingly overdue)

3. Return The Amber Spyglass to the library; pick up Animal Dreams

4. Swipe a bazillion free papers from various locations to start packing fragile items

5. Replace front headlight and rear windshield wiper on my car

6. Create a paper chain to countdown until our move, writing a reason why I hate this place on each chain (thought of this last night while we couldn’t sleep while a raging party went on next door)

7. Write a blog post of substance very soon.

Meme Rules:

Step 1. Reference back to the blog that sent you.
Step 2. Make a list of 5 things that you have to get done this week, no matter how small.
Step 3. Get 2 other people off their asses to get their shit in order.

Meme – finally

6 08 2007

I was tagged a while ago to do the 8-thing-about-me Meme, but just didn’t have the headspace to do it. I think I found some tucked away in the corners of my brain, so here it is:

1. I drink my coffee so slow it gets cold before I can finish my cup.

2. I’ve recently started reading magazines backwards just to mix it up a little.

3. I used to be a big planner (being a very anal person) but now prefer open, wide spaces of time to schedules. I thank E.’s influence for much of this shift.

4. For a while I’ve wanted to learn how to play the piano, guitar and hand drums. Perhaps the piano in our living room with help me realize one of these dreams.

5. I’ve never met my biological father.  I know his name and address, and even though I’ve thought about it many times, I’ve never decided to contact him.  I’m fully aware of the coincidence of how my child is going to grow up in relation to his/her donor (we chose identity release), and I’m sure a full and complete essay could be written on the topic.

6. I don’t shave my legs or armpits. You could chalk this up to the stereotypical “dykey” thing to do, but at some point I realized there was no one making me endure the upkeep and irritation that goes along with shaving and I just stopped (granted, this realization might have occurred around the same time I was exploring other parts of my inner-dyke, but I still hold firm to the other reasons as well…).

7. I’ve ALWAYS slept with a fan on. I love white noise. Thank god E. knew this was not a battle worth fighting when we first moved in together. 🙂

8. I was a cheerleader. Big time. This usually surprises people who know me, since I probably haven’t put on a skirt since high school and it’s not a very feminist kind of activity. But cheering ROCKS. We competed – and went to the state finals. We might have done well if my friend hadn’t puked on the floor right before our routine because of nerves. Twice.

If you are reading this and feel inspired to write 8 things about yourself that we don’t know, consider yourself tagged.

7 Things

14 05 2007

As tagged by Lo, here are 7 things about me:

(have I done this before? It feels familiar, but upon searching my archives I find nothing…)

1. I’m a good listener.

2. I’m terrible at remembering names, faces, dates, and sequences.

3. I went through a phase when I was 13 where I was “saved” at my local baptist church. I got over it.

4. My heritage is French Canadian and have always called my grandmother and grandfather “Memere” and “Pepere” (pronounced “Memay” and “Pepay”).

5. I am afraid of bugs. There, I admitted it. I make E. kill all the bugs in our house. I think she has realized that it’s in her best interest to just go along with this.

6. I grew up in VERY rural Maine next to a dairy farm where my dad has milked cows since before I was born.

7. My absolute biggest pet peeve is when people interrupt during conversation.

Hmmm, now I must do the tagging. I tag: Jude, Kieron, Rootsinthesand, CD & SP, Sara & Erin, J, and Vee & Jay. Apologies if you have already posted “7 things” – I took a quick peak and didn’t see them near the surface…
